Brazilian Minister To Sign Deal In Morocco

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Brazil's Minister of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa ), André de Paula, will sign a protocol between the ministry and fertilizer manufacturer OCP-Nutricrops in the city of Jorf Lasfar, Morocco, on Friday (18). De Paula is on a visit to Africa and was in Angola from Monday (14) through Wednesday (16), before heading to Morocco.

According to Mapa, the minister will take part in the Brazil-Morocco Business Seminar on Thursday (17). On Friday (18), he will hold meetings at Morocco's Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests and with representatives of the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). After the meetings, he will visit the OCP Nutricrops plant, a subsidiary of fertilizer producer OCP focused on developing solutions for soil nutrition.

The meetings in Morocco are part of a trip that has also taken the Agriculture Minister to Angola. In the African country, the minister signed a memorandum of understanding on agricultural cooperation and met, among others, with a fertilizer producer.

Brazil is one of the world's largest food producers and one of the largest importers of fertilizers, an essential input for planting crops. Morocco, in turn, is one of the world's largest phosphate producers and already supplies Brazil. During this trip, however, an increase in exports of phosphate fertilizers to Brazil is expected to be agreed upon. Another issue expected to be on the agenda is expanding beef sales to the North African country. Agricultural and livestock institutions are part of the delegation.
