Iraqi PM Al-Zaidi Lands in Berlin on First-Ever European Tour

(MENAFN) Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi touched down in Berlin on Tuesday, marking the German leg of his debut European tour, which earlier took him through France.

A brief statement from al-Zaidi's office confirmed the Berlin arrival but gave no indication of how long the visit would run.

The prime minister is set to hold talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, with the agenda spanning regional and international matters alongside efforts to deepen cooperation across energy, security and transport, according to an earlier statement from his office.

The German stop follows directly on the heels of al-Zaidi's time in Paris, where he wrapped up his visit Monday with a meeting alongside French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace.

Al-Zaidi launched the tour — his first venture into Europe since taking office in May — with the France leg, which began Sunday.
