Katie Jenkins

Katie is an interdisciplinary researcher based in the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, with over 15 years of experience working at the science–policy interface of climate risks and adaptation.

She is actively engaged in major UK policy and research initiatives, including the MACC Hub, which delivers place-based, transformational approaches to climate adaptation by connecting researchers, policymakers, industry, and communities. Katie is also a British Academy Innovation Fellow (Route B: Policy-led, Sustainable Futures), working with the Government Office for Science (GO-Science) to strengthen the evidence base for climate and societal decision-making.

Her research focuses on understanding and modelling climate change impacts, losses and damages, and risks for human systems. She has particular expertise in integrated assessment modelling, bringing together data on impacts, vulnerability, adaptation, and risk across urban and interconnected systems such as water, health, wellbeing, and the economy.

Katie develops policy-relevant tools and methods to support decision-making, including climate impact and adaptation inventories and approaches to assess avoided risks and socio-economic consequences. She led the development of the first formal UK Adaptation Inventory and continues to advance methods for evaluating real-world adaptation action.

Her work is centred on bridging physical and social sciences to enable informed, evidence-based responses to climate challenges.
