Poland Scrambles Fighter Jets And Closes Lublin And Rzeszów Airports In Response To Russian Attacks On Ukraine

The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command reported on social media platform X that, in connection with Russian strikes on Ukraine, the Polish Air Force had begun operations in the country's airspace. At the same time, ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were placed on alert. The command emphasized that these measures were preventive in nature and aimed at protecting Polish airspace.
Subsequently, the Operational Command announced the completion of the military aviation operation related to the Russian strikes on Ukraine. Ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems returned to standard operations. According to military officials, no violations of Polish airspace were recorded.
Residents of the Lublin and Województwo podkarpackie in Poland received text messages from the Government Security Cente alerting them to the emergency and military aviation operations in the airspace.
Due to military aviation activity, operations at the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów were temporarily suspended. The restrictions were in place for a short time, after which airport operations resumed.
As reported by Ukrinform, an enemy drone struck a bus in the Nikopol region. Five people were killed and seven were injured.
