Delaware Closes Out 2026 Primary Season Ahead of Midterms
(MENAFN) Delaware wrapped up the nation's primary calendar on Tuesday, becoming the final state to hold its vote before the November midterms, with contests for U.S. Senate, the state's lone U.S. House seat, and attorney general all decided.
In the marquee Senate race, incumbent Democrat Chris Coons cruised to renomination, capturing 78% of the vote against three challengers. He'll face Republican Mike Katz, who dispatched opponent John Shulli by a decisive 77.4% to 22.6% margin.
Delaware's at-large congressional seat also saw a clear result: Republican Joe Armino emerged victorious with 47.9% of the vote against two rivals, with 95% of precincts reporting. Armino now sets his sights on unseating Democratic incumbent Rep. Sarah McBride, who faced no primary opposition.
The attorney general's race followed a similar pattern. Incumbent Democrat Kathy Jennings turned back two challengers with 71.2% of the vote, setting up a general-election matchup against Republican Dave Graham, who ran unopposed for his party's nomination.
Voters will render their final verdicts on all three races — and contests nationwide — when the midterm elections take place Nov. 3.
