Warsaw's Chopin Airport Evacuated Again After Bomb Scare
(MENAFN) Authorities partially evacuated Warsaw Chopin Airport on Tuesday evening following the discovery of an unattended bag, triggering an emergency response from bomb disposal specialists.
Police were alerted to the suspicious item just before 7 p.m. local time (1700 GMT), media reported.
As a precautionary measure, officials cleared departure areas on the arrivals level, a law enforcement source said.
Explosive ordnance disposal personnel were rushed to the scene to inspect the bag and assess whether it posed any danger to travelers or staff.
By roughly 8:30 p.m., TVP3 Warsaw confirmed that specialists had examined the item and ruled out any threat.
Airport operations resumed shortly afterward, with passengers allowed back into the terminal.
The scare marks the second such incident at the airport within a two-week span. A nearly identical evacuation occurred exactly one week earlier, also triggered by an abandoned bag that was later cleared of danger.
