Liam Cunningham Condemns Macklemore Exit from Ed Sheeran Tour
(MENAFN) Irish actor and longtime advocate for Palestinian causes Liam Cunningham has criticized British singer Ed Sheeran following the removal of rapper Macklemore from the remaining US dates of Sheeran's Loop Tour.
“We know who Ed Sheeran is now,” the Game of Thrones actor wrote on X.
In another post that did not directly name Sheeran, Cunningham challenged claims of political neutrality in relation to Israel's war in Gaza.
“If you find yourself saying ‘I’m not taking sides’ during a genocide, you are. You most definitely are,” he wrote.
The comments represent another public expression of Cunningham's longstanding support for Palestinians.
In April 2024, the actor said he had taken part in Palestine solidarity campaigns for “30 to 40 years” and criticized public figures who chose not to speak publicly about Israel's attacks on Gaza.
During an interview in December 2024, Cunningham said his opposition to injustice was more important to him than concerns that speaking publicly could negatively affect his acting career.
“I’ve never been a fan of injustice,” he said, adding that people attempting to silence him only possessed the influence that others were willing to give them.
