Seychelles: President Herminie To Attend 81St Session Of The United Nations General Assembly

President of the Republic of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, will travel to New York, United States of America, to participate in the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

The 81st Session of the General Assembly opened on 8 September 2026. The General Debate, which brings together Heads of State and Government from around the world, will commence on 22 September.

This year's session is being held under the theme,“Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.” The High-Level Week will provide an important platform for world leaders to address shared global challenges, strengthen international cooperation and advance collective action towards sustainable development, peace and global stability.

President Herminie will be out of the country from Wednesday, 16 September 2026, and is expected to resume office on Monday, 5 October 2026. During his visit, President Herminie is also expected to participate in a series of high-level engagements and bilateral meetings.

In his absence, the Vice-President Mr Sebastien Pillay will assume the responsibilities and represent the Republic in the discharge of official duties and engagements, in line with established practice.
