War Update: 278 Combat Engagements On Frontline Over Past Day

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated this in a Facebook update on the situation as of 08:00 on September 16.

The enemy carried out 106 airstrikes, dropping 356 guided aerial bombs. In addition, Russian forces deployed 7,106 kamikaze drones and conducted 2,366 shelling attacks.

In Sumy region, Pisariivka, Ulanove, Ryzhivka, Oleksiivka, Yunakivka, Volfyne, and Mariiine came under artillery fire. The areas of Ivolzhanske and Tovstodubove were hit by airstrikes.

Ukrainian aviation, missile forces, and artillery struck one area where Russian personnel were concentrated.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian forces repelled three enemy assaults near Bachivsk, Korenok, and Hirkу.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian units repelled 17 attacks. Russian forces attempted to advance near Lyman, Prylipka, Starytsia, and Izbytske, as well as toward Mala Vovcha and Volokhivka.

In the Kupiansk sector, the enemy attacked three times near Kivsharivka and Tabaivka.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces attacked eight times near Lyman, Stavky, and Dibrova, as well as toward Novoselivka and Drobysheve.

In the Sloviansk sector, the enemy carried out seven assault operations near Ozerne and Kryva Luka, as well as toward Mykolaivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian forces attacked once toward Yurkivka.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, 18 enemy attacks were recorded. Russian forces conducted assaults near Kostiantynivka and Illinivka, as well as toward Osykove, Mykolaipillia, Novohryhorivka, and Dolha Balka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Defense Forces repelled 43 attacks. Russian forces were active near Bilytske, Serhiivka, Udachne, and Molodetske, and conducted assaults toward Sofiivka, Pryiut, Kucheriv Yar, Vilne, Novo Shakhove, Stepove, Hannivka, Novyi Donbas, Dobropillia, Vodianske, Krasnopodillia, Novofedorivka, and Vasylivka.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian forces launched two attacks toward Ternove and Verbove.

In the Huliaipole sector, Russian forces made 10 attempts to advance near Hirke, as well as toward Kosivtseve, Rizdvianka, and Charivne.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Defense Forces stopped one Russian attempt to advance toward Zarichne.

In the Prydniprovske sector, the enemy conducted no assault operations.

On the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of Russian offensive force buildup were detected.

As Ukrinform reported, the total combat losses of Russian force since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, from February 24, 2022, to September 16, 2026, amount to approximately 1,511,530 personnel.
