Over 220,000 Ukrainians Receive Temporary Protection In Romania
It is noted that from the beginning of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine through August 31, a total of 223,808 beneficiaries of temporary protection were registered in the country.
“Of these, 220,881 are Ukrainian citizens, accounting for 98.7% of the total number of registered beneficiaries of temporary protection,” the IGI said.
According to the publication, residence permits were issued or extended for these individuals in accordance with Romanian law.
According to the IGI, 935 asylum applications were also filed in Romania during the first eight months of 2026. Almost half of them - 466 applications - were submitted by Ukrainian citizens.
