Poland Reports Details On Russian UAV Found On Baltic Coast

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The drone is in very good technical condition, which will allow specialists to examine its design and technological solutions in detail, Ukrinform reports, citing RMF24.

Lieutenant Colonel Dariusz Rozkosz, spokesperson for the chief commander of the Polish Military Gendarmerie, said that tests conducted by chemists found no radioactive, chemical, or biological threat. The drone is currently being examined for explosives and pyrotechnic substances.

According to Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, an increasing amount of evidence indicates that this could be a new model of a Russian Gerbera-type drone that was lost by Russian forces. He said the drone is in very good technical condition, allowing Polish specialists to conduct a detailed analysis of the technological solutions used by the Russian side. He noted that the drone may be more advanced than the aircraft previously examined by Polish services.

According to preliminary data, the drone did not carry a warhead, but it may have contained a small amount of explosive material for self-destruction in the event that it was at risk of being captured.

At the same time, Kosiniak-Kamysz stressed that there are currently no indications that the drone was deliberately directed toward Poland. Final conclusions regarding its type, origin, purpose, and the circumstances in which it ended up on the Polish coast can be drawn only after the examination is completed, he added.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the drone was found on Monday on a beach in Rusinowo near Jarosławiec in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Relevant services arrived at the scene, secured the drone, and began examining it.
