Qatar Charity Conducts Blindness Prevention Campaign In Senegal

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) As part of its ongoing "Ibsar" initiative, Qatar Charity (QC), in co-operation with Senegal's Ministry of Health and Social Action, implemented a medical campaign to address treatable blindness in the Dakar and Saint-Louis regions.

During the campaign, 2,953 people received eye examinations and medical consultations, while 1,290 prescription eyeglasses and 4,964 units of eye medications and eye drops were distributed.

The campaign aimed to mitigate the prevalence of cataracts, the leading cause of blindness in Senegal.

Adviser to the Senegalese Minister of Health Abdoulaye Ndiaye commended Qatar Charity's efforts in supporting the healthcare sector in Senegal, particularly those to combat blindness and visual impairment through targeted medical programmes and enhanced prevention and treatment services for vulnerable communities.

The campaign reflects Qatar Charity's commitment to providing healthcare to the most vulnerable groups, as restoring beneficiaries' sight contributes to improving their living conditions and enabling them to access education and employment, as well as achieve self-reliance.
