Marinei Herselman is a lecturer at the Department of Social Work at the University of Fort Hare. She has extensive practice experience in the field of child protection, forensic social work, expert testimony in sexual abuse cases, trauma debriefing and psychiatric social work. She holds a Master of Social Work (Clinical Social Work) from Fordham University in New York, United States of America and a Doctor of Philosophy (Social Work) from the University of Fort Hare South Africa. Dr Herselman is a member of the Advisory Editorial Board for Social Work/Maatskaplike Werk Stellenbosch University. She also served on the Management Committee of the East London Social Work Forum for Continued Professional Development (CPD) of Social Workers. She is passionate about the wellbeing of children, the impact of trauma on adults' children and families and continued Professional Development in Social Work.

Dr Herselman contributed to two book chapters in Management and supervision of social workers: issues and challenges within a social development paradigm 1st and 2nd Edition Lambert K. Engelbrecht Anti-discriminatory management and supervision practices across diverse culture.
