Malaysia Allocates $400,000 In Aid For Palestinians Refugees In Gaza, Jordan
At a ceremony at the Malaysian embassy in Amman on Tuesday, Ambassador Mohamad Nasri Abdul Rahman handed over two $200,000 cheques to aid organisations, according to a provided statement.
“Through the AAKRP, Malaysia continues to extend meaningful humanitarian assistance to Palestinian communities,” Nasri said, adding that the assistance would support healthcare services for refugees in Jerash Camp and emergency food aid for vulnerable communities in Gaza.
The American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA) received $200,000 to support its SHIFAA programme, which provides medical and social services to residents of Gaza (Jerash) Refugee Camp in Jordan.
ANERA Deputy Country Director Nourhan Shuqman commended Malaysia for the contribution, saying the funding would strengthen healthcare services and provide medical assistance to families in the camp.
A second $200,000 grant was presented to World Central Kitchen (WCK) to support the preparation and distribution of hot meals to displaced people across the Gaza Strip.
WCK Financial Department Head Noor Deen Ramadan said the contribution would help expand daily hot meal operations for displaced families facing severe food shortages in Gaza.
Nasri reaffirmed Malaysia's commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts aimed at addressing urgent needs among Palestinians through cooperation with humanitarian organisations.
