Raise Robotics Construction Robot Reaches 65 Feet On Genie Boom Lift


(MENAFN- Robotics & Automation News) Raise Robotics has detailed a six-month collaboration with Genie, the Terex aerial-lift brand, to take its Autonomous Mobile Fabricator (AMF) robot off the factory floor and onto a boom lift.

In July, the company mounted the swappable workcell directly onto a Genie boom and operated the integrated system live for customers and partners.

The product idea is one intelligent robot that can move across an AGV, a scissor lift, and a boom lift, changing its mobility, tooling, and reach with the job. On the Genie boom configuration Raise has shown, working height is in the 65-foot class, roughly six stories.

The first applications at that height are autonomous coating and surface maintenance for fabricators, industrial contractors, and other large-structure work where a fixed robot cell cannot go.

Work at height remains the leading killer in construction. In 2024, 389 construction workers in the United States died falling to a lower level, more than a third of all construction fatalities, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The point of putting the workcell on a production Genie is not a taller humanoid. It is to take the person off the platform.

“Work at height can be dangerous, but through our ecosystem approach, we're beginning to tear down the barriers of where robots are working,” said Ross Blum, president and chief business officer of Raise Robotics, in announcing the collaboration.“Thanks to Genie for their trust and collaboration through the process.”

“A humanoid can only reach what a person can reach. A lot of the work that actually hurts people is past that envelope,” said Rishabh Aggarwal, CTO at Raise Robotics.

“We are not building a different robot for every elevation. We are building one workcell that changes how it moves. The alternative is to keep sending the person.”

Raise said it will share more in the coming months on customer partnerships and deployments. The AMF workcell – a robotic arm, compute stack, and universal tool interface – already runs as a ground-level AGV for layout marking and concrete drilling.

Mounting that same cell on Genie scissor and boom platforms extends the work to vertical and overhead surfaces without a new machine for each height.
