IDSVA Opens Applications For Low-Residency Phd Program
Students in the program complete 60 credits over three years of coursework, followed by a dissertation. IDSVA operates as a nomadic institution without a traditional campus, combining interactive online seminars with immersive residencies held in various international locations. These include Rome, Siena, Venice, and Spannocchia Castle in Tuscany, as well as Berlin, Marrakech, Mexico City, and New York City. This structure allows students to pursue doctoral studies while maintaining their careers and personal commitments.
Qualified individuals holding a BA or BFA are invited to apply. Those entering with an MA in art, philosophy, or related fields, or an MFA, may be eligible to transfer up to 5 credits toward the PhD, with eligibility determined on a case-by-case basis. International applicants are encouraged to apply and can complete their studies from their home countries, though IDSVA can issue F-1 visas for a one-week US residency; these visas do not grant full-time US residence.
