Finland Provides Ukraine With €290 Million Military Aid Package
“Finland continues to support Ukraine as it defends itself against Russia's unlawful aggression. Throughout the war, we have provided Ukraine with materiel assistance based on its needs,” Finnish Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen said.
The new aid package includes equipment that Ukraine urgently needed. According to the ministry, in terms of value, it is the second-largest package Finland has provided to Ukraine.
According to him, in addition to transferring defense materiel from its own stocks, Finland has purchased products from the Finnish defense industry for Ukraine, some of which are included in this aid package.
“Thus, Finland's support for Ukraine will also contribute to strengthening the capabilities of our own defense industry,” Häkkänen noted.
The total value of defense materiel provided by Finland to Ukraine has reached €3.6 billion.
The Ministry of Defence emphasized that, for operational security reasons, no further details would be provided regarding the contents of the aid package, its delivery method, or the delivery schedule.
It is also noted that the decision to provide the aid took into account both Ukraine's needs and the resources available to the Finnish Defence Forces.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Canada would not only purchase PAC-3 interceptors for Patriot systems for CAD 350 million (approximately USD 270 million), but would also provide AIM-9 and AIM-120 missiles and help purchase the necessary equipment from other countries.
