Fake Doctor Arrested In Bengal's Sonarpur
Bishwaroop Acharya was arrested on Monday night after he came under the police scanner and multiple discrepancies in his degrees were found. He had been using fake MBBS and FRCS degrees.
According to the police, Acharya used to introduce himself as an oncologist and charged patients Rs 800 per visit. Reportedly operating across eight chambers, Acharya had opened a new chamber in a house in the Ghasiara area of Sonarpur. However, the house owner approached the police after becoming suspicious about his movements and activities.
Then the police, after sending a decoy patient, raided the chamber last night. The initial investigation revealed several inconsistencies in the identity and degree of the accused, and he was arrested.
Acharya has allegedly been posing as a doctor for a long time.
He was produced before the Baruipur sub-district Court on Tuesday, and police are investigating how he was treating people for so long and where the forged documents and degrees he used came from.
"Officers went to Bishwaroop's chamber disguised as a patient. It was evident in just one or two conversations that he was a fake doctor. All his degrees were fake. He was immediately arrested. An investigation has started to find out where he got those fake degrees and whether there is a big criminal ring involved in this," a senior police official said.
