Sussexes Switch Kids' UK School Over Security Fears
(MENAFN) The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have pulled their children from their newly started UK school just days after enrollment, citing security concerns tied to the distance and heavy traffic along the school run, according to media reports.
The couple's private security detail had raised concerns over the route's length and congestion, the BBC reported Monday, citing a source close to the pair.
It has also come to light that Prince Harry and Meghan will undergo a review of their publicly funded security arrangements following their move back to the UK. The committee responsible for royal and VIP protection, known as RAVEC, is expected to reassess the couple's police protection level now that they and their two children live in Britain full-time rather than as occasional visitors.
The Duke of Sussex recently lost his appeal challenging a ruling that dismissed his bid to secure a higher level of police security while in Britain.
Harry and Meghan returned to the UK with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, in August — six years after stepping down from their roles as senior working royals and relocating to California.
Earlier this month, a letter sent on behalf of King Charles by the lord chamberlain, a senior palace official, confirmed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will remain barred from using the titles "His and Her Royal Highness" and will continue to be regarded as "private citizens."
The message reaffirmed that the arrangement struck in 2020 when the Sussexes departed royal life — known as the Sandringham Agreement — remains firmly in place, ruling out any "half-in and half-out" arrangement that would let the couple pursue commercial ventures while retaining working royal status.
