Kazakhstan, South Korea Line Up 51 Projects Worth Over $4B

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. Kazakhstan's joint project portfolio with South Korea includes 51 projects worth more than $4 billion in the automotive, machinery, metallurgy and other sectors, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the opening of the Kazakh-Korean roundtable.

This was announced in a statement published the press service of the Kazakh president.

“The experience of Korean companies has convincingly proven that Kazakhstan is a competitive and reliable production platform. In 2025, about 170,000 vehicles were produced in the country, a national record. A significant share of this volume, including passenger and commercial vehicles and buses, was produced by Hyundai and Kia,” Tokayev said.

He noted that production of Korean consumer electronics is also growing in Kazakhstan, adding that Samsung household appliances are currently manufactured at local plants.

“Our goal is to create a fully integrated industrial ecosystem covering localized components, advanced materials, electrical equipment and electronics, with a focus on serving the broader Eurasian market. I invite Korean companies to take advantage of these opportunities and expand their production in Kazakhstan,” the president said.

Furthermore, Tokayev highlighted construction and urban development as promising areas of bilateral cooperation.

“Your country has world-class expertise in construction, engineering and infrastructure development. Korean companies are known for implementing complex projects quickly, with high quality and using advanced technologies. Kazakhstan is currently entering an important stage of infrastructure development. We intend to significantly accelerate the pace of construction across the country, from transport and utilities to housing construction and social infrastructure. I consider this one of the key priorities of my work as president,” he said.

He said Kazakhstan plans to turn the country into“one large construction site,” with particular attention to hospitals, children's rehabilitation centers, multifunctional medical centers, modern schools, sports facilities and transport infrastructure.

“This opens up significant opportunities for Korean corporations. We count on their active participation in large-scale projects across Kazakhstan. Our government will prepare a specific list of such infrastructure projects aimed at creating new mutually beneficial enterprises and promoting investment initiatives,” Tokayev said.

Tokayev also said Kazakhstan is closely following South Korea's new industrial strategy, including initiatives such as the Three Mega Projects and the Seven Major SEED initiative.
