Sudanese Military Shoots Down Three Drones in Eastern Sudan

(MENAFN) Sudan's military shot down three drones over the eastern part of the country, local media reported Tuesday, amid the ongoing conflict gripping the nation.

Air defense units intercepted the aircraft in two separate locations: the Al-Fashaga area of Gedaref state and Khashm al-Girba in Kassala state, according to a Sudanese news agency.

The report referred to the drones as belonging to the "enemy," but stopped short of identifying who operated them. No details were provided on whether the incident caused any casualties or damage.

The downing comes against the backdrop of a brutal war that has torn Sudan apart since April 2023, pitting the national army against the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The conflict has killed thousands of people and forced millions from their homes.
