Yemen Conflict Forces Thousands from Their Homes
(MENAFN) Nearly 94,000 people have been newly displaced across Yemen as fighting between government forces and the Houthi group continues, according to reports.
The largest concentrations of displacement are recorded in the Ta'iz and Lahj governorates. In Jabal Habashy district alone, 18,840 people have been forced from their homes, while another 9,966 have fled Al Ma'afer.
Lahj has also experienced significant displacement, with 16,464 people leaving the Al-Mudharibah district and a further 2,892 fleeing Tuban.
The movement of civilians extends beyond these areas, reaching Aden, Al Hodeidah, Abyan and additional districts in Ta'iz. The spread highlights the expanding humanitarian impact of the conflict.
"IOM and partners are responding on the ground and continue to monitor displacement trends. IOM is calling for urgent support to meet the shelter, water and sanitation needs of newly displaced families,” the agency said.
