Pakistan Voices Strong Support for Lebanon Amid Tensions
(MENAFN) Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemns Israel’s actions against Lebanon and reaffirms Islamabad’s firm commitment to protecting Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to reports.
Sharif expresses ''unwavering'' solidarity with Lebanon’s leadership and people during the current crisis while meeting visiting Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al Hajjar.
During the talks, Al Hajjar also emphasizes Lebanon’s interest in expanding cooperation and strengthening relations with Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and other officials attend the meeting.
The two countries also sign a memorandum of understanding establishing a legal mechanism allowing convicted Pakistani and Lebanese nationals to complete their sentences in their respective home countries.
During his visit, Al Hajjar also meets Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, at the military headquarters in Rawalpindi.
"During the meeting, both dignitaries exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, the evolving regional security environment and prospects for further enhancing bilateral relations in security domain," according to a statement.
