Fidan Says Erdogan’s Damascus Visit Features in Syria Talks

(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says preparations for President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s planned trip to Damascus are discussed during his recent two-day visit to Syria.

“At a time when our region is going through a critical period, we paid an important visit to Syria,” Fidan says in a post on Turkish social media platform NSosyal.

During the first day of his visit, Fidan says he meets Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, along with Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani and Interior Minister Anas Khattab.

“During our meetings, we once again reaffirmed our common will to preserve Syria’s unity and integrity and to ensure that the Syrian people attain the peace and prosperity they deserve,” he says.

“We discussed the visit our president will pay to Damascus,” Fidan adds.

On the second day, Fidan says he meets representatives of Syria’s ethnic Turkmen community, describing them as an integral component of the country.
