Over 300 Officials, Business Leaders Join Uzbek-Korean Forum In Seoul

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 15. More than 300 representatives of government bodies and the business community from Uzbekistan and South Korea took part in a joint business forum in Seoul, opened by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok.

According to the press service of Uzbek president, the participants included heads of leading financial institutions, major industrial enterprises and trading companies from both countries. South Korean business was represented by companies including Lotte Chemical, Hyundai Motor Group, Samsung C&T, CJ Group, Shinhan Financial Group, Hyundai Rotem, KIND, BOMI, Kia Corporation, Sampyo Group and Hansae Mobility, among others.

In his remarks, Mirziyoyev said Korea "is a time-tested friend and a special strategic partner of Uzbekistan", describing trade, economic and investment cooperation as one of the key directions of multifaceted Uzbek-Korean relations. He noted the successful work and significant contribution of leading Korean companies to the development of Uzbekistan's economy.

The Uzbek leader said the country is entering a new stage of industrial and technological development, opening broad prospects for expanding mutual trade, investment cooperation and the implementation of new joint projects. He proposed combining Uzbekistan's resource base with Korea's advanced technologies and the investment capital of companies from both countries to create new points of economic growth.

Mirziyoyev outlined key areas for further economic partnership, including industrial cooperation and the formation of full-fledged production chains, energy and the green economy, transport and modern infrastructure, digitalization and artificial intelligence, semiconductors and microelectronics, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, joint research, the adoption of advanced technologies, and workforce training.

Korean companies were invited to take part in projects covering copper processing, the production of electrical equipment, the localization of components for the automotive and electric vehicle industries, robotics and automation, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, hydropower, energy storage systems, the modernization of power grids, and the development of transport and urban infrastructure.

As a practical mechanism for deepening industrial and technological cooperation, Mirziyoyev proposed establishing an Uzbek-Korean Industrial and Technological Alliance. He reaffirmed his readiness to continue creating favorable conditions for Korean business in Uzbekistan and to provide practical support for the implementation of joint projects.
