Le Pen Leads French Presidential Race as Rivals Battle for Runoff
(MENAFN) Marine Le Pen continues to hold a strong position ahead of France's 2027 presidential election, remaining the leading candidate in the latest voting-intention survey.
The poll puts the National Rally candidate at between 33% and 36% support in the first round, depending on which electoral scenario is considered.
Although Le Pen maintains a sizeable advantage over her competitors, her support has declined slightly, falling by one to two percentage points compared with a previous survey conducted on Aug. 24.
The focus is increasingly shifting to the competition for second place, as candidates seek to secure a position in the expected runoff against Le Pen.
Left-wing politician Jean-Luc Melenchon receives between 16% and 17% in the scenarios that include him. The results indicate that he would advance to the second round in three of the five scenarios examined.
His strongest prospects come in situations where former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe either does not participate or is not the only major centrist candidate.
Melenchon and Philippe are level in one scenario, while Philippe gains an advantage when he becomes the sole leading candidate representing the political center.
Across the different scenarios, Philippe's support ranges from 14% to 19%.
