Plane Crash in Western Germany Kills Three People
(MENAFN) Three people lose their lives after a small aircraft crashes into a field in western Germany on Monday, with no survivors reported, according to police.
The Cessna 172 comes down at about 11:20 a.m. local time near the village of Gerderath in Erkelenz, North Rhine-Westphalia, after experiencing difficulties during the flight.
“The aircraft was carrying three people. All three died in the crash,” a police spokesperson said.
The aircraft, which has four seats, reportedly departed earlier in the morning from an area north of Utrecht in the Netherlands before entering German airspace near the A52 motorway. It crashed into a field shortly afterward and was destroyed in the impact.
Authorities have not disclosed the identities of those killed or provided further information about them.
The cause of the accident remains unknown, and an investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.
