Inter Milan Rally from Two Goals Down to Beat Udinese
(MENAFN) Inter Milan staged another dramatic comeback on Monday, recovering from a two-goal deficit to defeat Udinese 5-3 at San Siro and preserve their perfect start to the Serie A season.
Udinese made a stunning start in Milan, racing into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 16 minutes. James Abankwah broke the deadlock in the ninth minute, rising to head in from a short corner after Unai Gomez delivered the ball toward the Irish defender.
The visitors doubled their advantage seven minutes later when Jurgen Ekkelenkamp converted Keinan Davis’ low cross from close range, leaving Inter goalkeeper Josep Martinez with little chance.
Inter responded before the half-hour mark as Carlos Augusto reduced the deficit in the 26th minute with a powerful long-range strike that found the bottom corner. Udinese managed to reduce the deficit during stoppage time when Idrissa Gueye completed a quick counterattack, but the late goal could not prevent Inter from securing another comeback victory.
The result marked the second consecutive Serie A match in which Inter had overturned a 2-0 deficit. They had produced a similar recovery against Napoli in their previous league fixture, winning 3-2 after Lautaro Martinez scored in stoppage time.
