Satellite Images Reveal Damage to Saudi Fuel, Military Sites
(MENAFN) Recent satellite imagery indicates significant damage to a Saudi Aramco fuel facility and possible damage to a military installation in southern Saudi Arabia following a series of attacks by Yemen's Houthi group.
Analysis of images from the Abha bulk fuel plant shows at least six storage tanks completely destroyed, while another eight appear to have suffered varying levels of damage.
The facility serves as a major fuel distribution center for southwestern Saudi Arabia and appears to have been largely taken out of service following the attacks.
Separate satellite images dated Sept. 13 also show two visible burn marks on a military hardstand in Sharurah, located in the southern Najran province.
The site is reportedly used to accommodate armored personnel carriers and military pickup trucks, raising the possibility that it was also struck during a Houthi attack.
The assessment relies on modified Copernicus Sentinel satellite data. Saudi authorities have not yet released a detailed evaluation confirming the extent of the damage visible in the imagery.
The reported destruction comes as tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi movement intensify, with the Yemeni group carrying out multiple missile and drone attacks against targets in the kingdom in recent days.
