Perpetual Next appoints Bilfinger as Owne’’s Engineer for large-scale biomethanol project in Delfzijl, the Netherlands
(MENAFN- Cision) Amsterdam / Delfzijl, September 14 2026 –– Sustainable raw materials producer Perpetual Next announces today the appointment of the international industrial services provider Bilfinger as Ow’er’s Engineer for the further development of its DeltaTorr and DeltaNor projects in Delfzijl, the Netherlands. The appointment marks an important milestone in the development of a large-scale biomethanol production facility, as Perpetual Next works towards a Final Investment Decision (FID).
The Delfzijl project is an important part of Perpetua’ Next’s ambition to develop large-scale production of biomethanol from residues. By converting sustainable biogenic residues into biomethanol, the project aims to provide a lower-carbon alternative for multiple industries like the maritime sector and the chemical industry.
As Owne’’s Engineer, Bilfinger will support Perpetual Next throughout the next stage of project development. The collaboration will help bring together the various project partners and disciplines, while further advancing the project towards a Final Investment Decision (FID).
Domestic production
The project represents a significant potential investment in the region, with total capital expenditure for the full development envisaged at up€to €1 billion. The development of the facility would contribute to strengthening the Nethe’lands’ an’ Europe’s position in the growing market for sustainable fuels and the emerging biomethanol economy. With methanol set to become an increasingly important sustainable fuel and key building block for the chemical industry, domestic production will play an important role in strengthening supply security and strategic autonomy.
