Hannah Lewi

Prof Hannah Lewi's areas of expertise lie in architectural design, history and theory. Her research interests include Australian and modern history, heritage and place-making, and new media for publishing history. She teaches 19th- and 20th-century history and design; architectural, heritage and urban theory; and research supervision.

Hannah has been a past President of SAHANZ (Society of Architectural Historians of AusNZ) and past co-editor of Fabrications Journal; current vice-chair of DOCOMOMO Australia and co-director of ACAHUCH - The Australian Centre for Architecture History and Urban and Cultural Heritage at the University of Melbourne.

Her recent research activities include co-investigator on an ARC Discovery project on the history of Modern campus building in Australia, and the co-authored book Campus: building modern Australian universities, UWA Press. Other co-authored books include Australia Modern: architecture, landscape and design, Thames & Hudson; the Routledge Handbook of New Digital Practices in Galleries Libraries Archives Museums and Heritage Sites; and most recently ADAPT: designing new lives for old buildings, with C Logan, URO Books, 2025.
