Carolina Herrera Unveils Spring/Summer 2027 With Warhol Portrait
Gordon emphasized that 45 years provides“permission to think on a different scale.” He stated his intention to explore the brand's history intuitively, treating its archive as a“vocabulary rather than a set of references.” The collection draws inspiration from New York elements like Park Avenue tulips and the black-and-white cookie, with Warhol's portrait appearing on a sheath dress.
Ahead of the New York Fashion Week show, Gordon explained his design approach to CULTURED. He aims to ensure the collection is not an“exercise in nostalgia,” focusing instead on making the house's foundational confidence, color, and proportion feel new. He described the“Herrera woman” as multifaceted, possessing a strong sense of self, sophistication, curiosity, and individuality, noting these qualities have been present since the brand's debut in 1981.
Gordon also discussed balancing spectacle with intimacy for the anniversary show, opting to return to New York after the Spring/Summer 2026 collection was shown in Madrid last year. New York is where Mrs. Herrera established the brand and where its atelier remains. The collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation allowed for a direct engagement with the iconic portrait, placing it in a new context for the anniversary.
