Quantedge Up 42% As The 2026 Hedge Fund Spread Narrows To 57 Points
Quantedge Global Fund, the Singapore-based systematic macro hedge fund founded in 2006, has compounded at 20.72 percent annualized since inception and now stands at plus 42.45 percent through the end of August. CastleKnight Master Fund LP holds second at plus 40.07 percent, adding another 2.80 percent in August on top of a year that already included a 21.2 percent month in April. The event-driven fund run by Aaron Weitman has delivered 28.87 percent annualized since its September 2020 launch and manages 3.67 billion dollars. Seligman Tech Spectrum Fund, a single-manager bet on US technology, tracks just behind at plus 37.28 percent.
The fourth spot belongs to a name that was in negative territory this time last year. 1798 Volantis Fund Class C, Rob Giles and Adam McConkey's UK mid and small-cap fund running since April 2002, lost 12.93 percent in 2025 and is now up 37.13 percent in 2026. That kind of reversal shows up in the three-year chart below. LYNX Bermuda 1.5, the leveraged share class of the Swedish CTA, has returned 34.38 percent, as the systematic trend-following book that flatlined in both 2024 and 2025 has caught extended moves in commodities and rates this year.
Indus Select, John Pinkel's Asia-focused event-driven fund, gained 4.50 percent in August and has returned 33.42 percent for the year. WHG Global Long Bias follows at plus 29.97 percent, notable because WHG gained 42.84 percent in full-year 2025 and has now added another 30 percent on top. Kernow Equity Navigator, the UK-listed equity fund run since October 2019, continues its quiet run at plus 28.26 percent.
