Zelensky Calls For Crackdown On Fraud Call Centers
“We need to put an end to the issue of fraudulent call centers in Ukraine. Draft laws establishing strict criminal liability for such call centers are also on the agenda. I ask you to support this accountability,” he said.
Zelensky also called on lawmakers to support the motion to dismiss Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
“I suspended him by decree. I have submitted the motion for his dismissal to the Verkhovna Rada. Ukraine has seen the reasons for this, and there should be enough votes,” Zelensky said.
As reported by Ukrinform, Head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) Semen Kryvonos said that he and the Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) had met with the President to discuss the situation surrounding call centers following Operation Carthage.
Read also: Kryvonos confirms meeting with Zelensky to discuss call center situationOn September 4, the SAPO and NABU announced that, as part of Operation Carthage, they had exposed a criminal organization allegedly headed by a senior official from the Prosecutor General's Office. The group allegedly systematically received bribes from fraudulent call centers and laundered the proceeds.
On September 14, Volodymyr Zelensky called on the Verkhovna Rada to urgently support the dismissal of Ruslan Kravchenko as Prosecutor General.
The President's motion has already been submitted to Parliament.
