Microsoft Promotes Katarina Wallin-Bureau To Lead European Government

BRUSSELS-European public affairs expert Katarina Wallin-Bureau has been named vice president, head of European government affairs at Microsoft.
Wallin-Bureau, who previously spent more than 12 years at Burson-Marsteller and was a founding partner at Boldt-now part of Bully Pulpit-joined Microsoft in September of 2023 as general manager, strategic relations.
In a LinkedIn post, she wrote,“I joined Microsoft because I was inspired by the mission, and because it was becoming clear that AI was going to change the world. The opportunity to be part of it was irresistible. Three years later, the industry and the world around us have evolved enormously, and it's been a privilege to be part of a team and a company working every day to ensure that we act as a responsible steward of this technology....
“I am proud to lead our fantastic team of colleagues in Brussels as we work to earn trust, promote resilience and security, and continue to be a partner to Europe.”
Prior to Microsoft, she was the founder and managing partner of RISE, an advisory firm specialized in helping companies put purpose and sustainability at the heart of strategy and engagement, and build multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Before that she was a partner at Boldt and worked at Burson-Marsteller, where she was manager of EU public affairs, managing director of EMEA strategy, and ultimately chief operating officer, EMEA. Before that she held positions with business consulting firm Marakon and the European Commission.
She brings deep experience in strategic communications, government affairs and EU policy, and developing creative, global campaigns to shape legislation and drive positive impact to her new role.
