Zelensky Suspends Kravchenko From Position Of Prosecutor General

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The relevant decree No. 905/2026 was published on the website of the President of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

"Pursuant to Part Two of Article 11 of the Law of Ukraine 'On the Legal Regime of Martial Law,' I hereby order: to suspend Kravchenko Ruslan Andriyovych from the position of Prosecutor General," the document states.

Earlier on Monday, September 14, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, following his resignation submitted on September 7, said that he had signed a notice of suspicion against Semen Kryvonos, the director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

He is accused of falsifying official documents in order to obtain an unlawful benefit on an especially large scale and of a sham adoption intended to artificially create grounds for avoiding liability in court.

Kravchenko later published the notice of suspicion and case materials concerning Kryvonos. He also said that he had traveled abroad on a business trip.

Meanwhile, NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) said they regarded the suspicion notice against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos as a continuation of the attack on anti-corruption bodies.

President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the Verkhovna Rada to immediately support the dismissal of Ruslan Kravchenko as Prosecutor General.

The Verkhovna Rada is scheduled to consider Kravchenko's resignation on September 15.

At its meeting on September 14, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement recommended that Parliament dismiss him from the position of Prosecutor General.

On September 4, SAPO and NABU announced that, as part of Operation "Carthage," they had exposed a criminal organization that allegedly systematically collected bribes from fraudulent call centers and laundered the proceeds. According to investigators, an official of the Prosecutor General's Office created the group in mid-2025, involving current prosecutors and close associates. NABU claims that the participants introduced a system of payments in exchange for allowing shadow call centers to operate without interference. These call centers allegedly defrauded Ukrainian and foreign citizens on a massive scale.

At the same time, the Prosecutor General's Office said that the legality of NABU's nighttime searches of the official premises of the PGO leadership, as well as the detectives' access to materials from other criminal proceedings, required a legal assessment.

On September 6, Kravchenko issued a statement claiming that he had no involvement in protecting illegal call centers. Kravchenko said that he had suspended an employee of the Prosecutor General's Office who was involved in the NABU investigation and had instructed officials to prepare a personnel decision on the employee's dismissal.

Late in the evening of September 7, Kravchenko announced that he had submitted his resignation as Prosecutor General.
