Ukraine Sets Urgent Voting Deadlines To Safeguard International Financial Aid

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi said this in a Facebook post, according to Ukrinform.

He said the situation with Ukraine's public finances was approaching a critical point.

Koretskyi once again urged all members of parliament to adopt as quickly as possible the bills on which the country's receipt of international financial assistance depends.

“Following several previous meetings with parliamentarians, the government will officially send all members of parliament and relevant committees a schedule with clear deadlines for each required vote,” the Prime Minister said.

According to him, if these deadlines are missed, Ukraine risks losing a significant portion of the $29.5 billion in international funding allocated to the country. This is a critically important resource for balancing the state budget, funding social spending and, most importantly, meeting the needs of the Defense Forces.

The government also has its own share of responsibilities.

“For its part, the government guarantees the full implementation of its obligations – 42 decisions. We previously announced our intention to complete this work by November 1. But given the complexity of the situation, we are accelerating the process and plan to complete everything by October 15,” the Prime Minister stressed.

During a meeting today with ambassadors of G7 countries and European Union member states, together with the Verkhovna Rada speaker, ministers, MPs and committee chairs, participants discussed in detail the need for coordinated efforts to secure international financial support.

Government officials are ready to work with MPs on every bill, every provision and every clause to ensure the necessary support and secure the swiftest possible adoption of the required decisions.

Koretskyi thanked the Verkhovna Rada Speaker for the discussion and for recognizing the seriousness of the situation, and thanked the diplomats for their engagement and willingness to help.

“The government, for its part, will adopt all the necessary decisions. We expect the same responsible work from MPs of all factions and groups,” Koretskyi said.

As reported by Ukrinform, the Verkhovna Rada discussed accelerating work on 46 bills whose adoption is required for Ukraine to meet its commitments under the Ukraine Facility, IMF programs and other areas of international support.

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Ruslan Stefanchuk urged MPs not to block laws needed to maintain the state's financial capacity.
