Commerce Minister Launches 'Companies House'
The Companies House is responsible for registering and licensing companies operating in Qatar's economic zones, with the aim of unifying registration and licensing procedures across these zones.
Under its mandate, the Companies House will register companies, license their business activities, and maintain the public registers of the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), the Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZ), Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), and Media City Qatar.
The Companies House will also provide tax and immigration services to registered companies and verify their compliance with labour standards and data-protection requirements.
Sheikh Faisal, who is also chairman of the Companies House Advisory Council, said:“Bringing these functions together in one place will enable investors to establish their businesses in Qatar's special economic zones, strengthening the competitiveness of the State of Qatar's investment environment in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
Members of the Companies House Advisory Council include Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed al-Thani, CEO of the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar (Invest Qatar); Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Faisal al-Thani, CEO of QFZ; Mansoor Rashid al-Khater, CEO of QFC; Hamad Omar al-Mannai, CEO of Media City Qatar; and Rama Chakaki, president of QSTP.
Nasser al-Taweel has been appointed CEO of the Companies House.
