Oman Postpones Talks on New Maritime Route Through Strait of Hormuz
(MENAFN) Oman has postponed a regional meeting that was due to take place Monday in Salalah to discuss plans for establishing a new maritime route through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Omani Foreign Ministry announced the delay late Sunday, saying the gathering would be rescheduled in order to provide better conditions for meaningful discussions.
The ministry said the move was intended to create an environment conducive to dialogue that could produce lasting agreements aimed at strengthening regional security and stability while promoting greater cooperation and peace.
“In the interests of consensus, the regional meeting set for tomorrow in Salalah has been postponed,” Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi wrote on X.
“We remain committed to fostering dialogue that supports stability and lasting cooperation in our region,” he added.
Albusaidi’s post included the flags of Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, indicating the countries expected to participate in the meeting.
No replacement date was announced, and the Omani foreign minister did not provide additional details about the specific circumstances behind the postponement.
