Yemeni Council Chief Renews Pledge to Restore Government Control

(MENAFN) Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi has pledged to continue efforts to rebuild state institutions and restore government control throughout the country as fighting with the Houthi group continues to reshape the front lines.

Al-Alimi made the commitment during a series of telephone conversations with members of the Presidential Leadership Council, Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani, the commander of the Fourth Military Region, as well as provincial governors and military leaders.

The discussions focused on the latest developments on the battlefield and in the security, humanitarian and public service sectors.

“The course of major national battles is not determined by a temporary change on one front line,” al-Alimi said, arguing that shifts in individual areas would not weaken the determination of the Yemeni population and armed forces to restore state institutions.

He said the broader conflict would instead be shaped by “strength of will, unity of purpose and decision-making, and the ability to learn from challenges and turn them into opportunities to build greater strength and cohesion and regain the initiative.”

Al-Alimi also emphasized that rebuilding the country's authority requires coordination across several sectors, saying the strength of the state lies in the “integration of its military, security, political, economic and service fronts.”
