Gaza Death Toll Rises as Israeli Strikes Continue Despite Ceasefire
(MENAFN) Two more Palestinians were killed in Gaza over the past 24 hours, raising the reported death toll from Israel’s ongoing military campaign in the enclave to 73,786, according to the Gaza Health Ministry on Monday.
The ministry said hospitals across Gaza received the bodies of two people as well as 25 injured Palestinians during the latest reporting period. It did not provide further information about the circumstances surrounding the deaths or injuries.
The latest casualties were reported as Israeli forces continue to carry out violations of the ceasefire agreement that has been in effect since Oct. 10, 2025. According to the ministry, Israeli violations since Oct. 11, 2025 have killed 1,372 Palestinians and wounded another 4,659.
The ministry said the overall death toll since the start of the conflict on Oct. 8, 2023 has reached 73,786, while the number of people injured has risen to 174,771. The figures include casualties recorded throughout the conflict and those reported during the period covered by the ceasefire.
The continuing casualties have added to the humanitarian toll in Gaza, where civilians have accounted for a large proportion of those killed and injured. Children and women are among the groups most heavily affected by the violence and the prolonged humanitarian crisis.
Beyond the loss of life, extensive damage has been reported across Gaza’s civilian infrastructure. According to the figures cited by the ministry, around 90% of the enclave’s civilian infrastructure has been destroyed or severely damaged during the conflict.
The scale of the destruction has also created enormous reconstruction needs. The United Nations has estimated that rebuilding Gaza could cost approximately $70 billion, underscoring the extent of the damage to civilian facilities and infrastructure.
The latest casualty figures come as Gaza continues to face the consequences of the prolonged conflict, with the reported deaths and injuries adding to an already extensive toll despite the ceasefire arrangement.
