Gaza Rescue Teams Recover Remains of Palestinians Missing Beneath Rubble
(MENAFN) Civil defense teams in Gaza have recovered the bodies and remains of 17 Palestinians who had been missing beneath the ruins of homes destroyed during Israeli attacks on the enclave.
The recoveries were carried out as part of the second stage of a search operation launched to locate people believed to remain buried under destroyed buildings. Rescue crews are conducting the work with severely limited access to heavy machinery and other essential equipment.
The latest phase focuses on damaged residential areas in Gaza City in the northern part of the enclave and the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.
According to reports, civil defense teams found the bodies of 16 missing Palestinians beneath the remains of homes belonging to the Hajji and Al-Nadeem families in the Zeitoun and Yarmouk neighborhoods of Gaza City.
Rescuers also recovered the remains of another missing Palestinian from the ruins of a home belonging to the Al-War family in Nuseirat refugee camp.
Search and recovery efforts remain slow because of the shortage of heavy equipment needed to clear large quantities of rubble. Palestinian authorities have said that the ceasefire agreement in effect since Oct. 10, 2025, includes provisions allowing machinery to enter Gaza to assist with debris removal and the recovery of those still trapped beneath destroyed buildings.
