21 Dead in Multi-Vehicle Crash on South Africa's N1 Highway
(MENAFN) At least 21 people died and four more were seriously injured after a multi-vehicle crash tore through South Africa's Western Cape province, the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) confirmed Monday.
According to the agency, the collision unfolded late Sunday night at 11:30 pm local time (0930 GMT) on the N1 highway, involving two minibus taxis and a station wagon.
The crash, which occurred between the towns of Prince Albert and Leeu-Gamka, forced authorities to shut down the highway in both directions. Officials have urged drivers to seek alternative routes, brace for delays, and exercise extreme caution while the closure remains in effect.
