Prime Minister Directs Expansion Of Free School Transport Project In Southern Badia

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on Monday directed the expansion of the free school transportation project in the Southern Badia to include an additional 3,500 students from the start of the second semester of the current academic year.

The expansion will increase the number of student beneficiaries in the region to 12,500, up from 9,000, while also providing transportation for around 900 teachers, according to a Prime Ministry statement.

The decision follows a government evaluation of the project's first phase, which was launched at the beginning of the academic year in public schools across the Southern Badia.

The first phase helped address transportation challenges faced by students and reduce the financial burden on families by providing free school transportation.

The project, implemented in partnership with the private sector, initially covered 61 public schools in the Southern Badia through a fleet of 120 buses.

Under the next phase, the government will introduce a smart mobile application that will allow parents to track their children's daily journeys to and from school and monitor their arrival times. The application will be linked to electronic tracking systems and security cameras installed on the buses.

The government also plans to expand the free school transportation model to central and northern regions of the Kingdom in subsequent stages.
