Kallas: Russia Attacks Train Near Polish Border To“Scare” Europe

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas said this while speaking to journalists ahead of the European Arctic Summit in Finland, Ukrinform reports.

“It is clearly meant to scare Western countries from supporting Ukraine or going to Ukraine to show their support. It was clearly a message to the Western world,” Kallas stressed.

In her view, the key question is what Europe will take from this message.

“I think we should act the opposite,” the EU High Representative stressed.“We should show that we are there for Ukraine and that we are not scared off.”

Otherwise, she believes, Russia will achieve its goal of“submission of Ukraine.”

“And as I have said several times, this is not their end goal. Their end goal is much broader, so we must stand firm,” Kallas concluded.

As reported by Ukrinform, following the Russian attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, French presidential candidates Gabriel Attal and Édouard Philippe called on Europe to step up its support for Ukraine.
