Over 31,000 Evacuated Ash Heavy Rain Lashes South China's Hainan
According to China's Xinhua news agency, 31,564 people had been relocated, though no major disasters were reported, according to the provincial committee for disaster prevention, mitigation and relief.
Hainan raised its flood-control emergency response to Level II, coinciding with Wanning, which had activated a Level I emergency response, the highest level in China's four-tier emergency response system.
Authorities in the island province of Hainan, southern China, suspended classes in some areas and closed 27 tourist attractions after a tropical depression formed over the South China Sea, bringing heavy rainfall across the province.
The relevant authorities said that they are closely monitoring rainfall and working to prevent flooding, water accumulation in urban areas, geological disasters, and the inundation of roads and bridges.
