Alleged Illegal Gold Mining Dispute Leaves 4 Dead In Kohat


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) Four people were killed and four others, including a passerby, were injured in an armed clash between two groups over a dispute involving alleged illegal gold mining in Darbo Kach area of Kohat.

According to police, the firing incident took place in the limits of Gambat Police Station in the Darbo Kach area, where a dispute between two groups over gold mining had been ongoing.

Police said the dispute suddenly escalated, with both sides opening fire on each other. As a result, four people were killed and four others were injured.

After receiving information about the incident, Gambat police reached the spot. However, the suspects involved in the firing fled the area upon the arrival of police. The police cordoned off the area and launched a search for the suspects.

According to police, the bodies of the deceased and the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. One of the injured is a passerby.

Police have registered a case at Gambat Police Station and are conducting raids at various locations to arrest those involved in the firing.

Police said the nature of the dispute between the two groups and the roles of those involved will be determined after the completion of the investigation.

The search for gold and alleged illegal mining in some areas of Kohat has been a matter of concern for some time. Despite a ban imposed by the administration, reports of placer gold extraction from certain areas have continued to emerge.
