Realty Deals Reach QR469.7M In Sales, Mortgages

Doha, Qatar: Qatar's real estate market recorded QR354.5m in property sales, QR115.17m in mortgage transactions and 538 rental contracts during the last week from September 6 to 12, 2026.

In a post on its X platform the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat) highlighted the market indicators. The latest figures, based on data from the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Municipality, show mixed performance across the country's sales, mortgage and rental sectors, with sales and leasing activity declining from the previous week while mortgage value increased.

The sales market registered 118 transactions worth QR354.5m. Sales value fell 32.2% year on year and 52.8% week on week. However, the number of transactions increased 1.7% from the previous week, although it remained 12.6% below the level recorded a year earlier.

Villas accounted for the largest portion of sales value at QR150.1m, representing 42.3% of the total. Land followed with QR128.2m or 36.2%, while residential apartments generated QR40.2m equivalent to 11.3%. Other property types accounted for QR36.1m or 10.2%.

By municipality, Doha led sales with QR115.3m, representing 32.5% of the total. Al Daayen followed with QR86.2m, or 24.3%, while Al Rayyan recorded QR75.3m, accounting for 21.2%. Together, the three municipalities generated QR276.8m, or about 78% of total sales.

Meanwhile the mortgage transactions reached QR115.17m across 13 transactions during the week.

The mortgage value declined 75.1% year on year, but increased 27.4% week on week. The number of mortgage transactions fell 27.8% both year on year and week on week.

Villas represented the largest share of mortgage value at QR45.5m or 37.9%. Buildings accounted for QR39.5m representing 32.9%, while land mortgages amounted to QR35m or 29.2%.

Doha was the dominant municipality for mortgage value with QR67.6m equivalent to 56.3% of the total. Al Rayyan followed with QR37.2m, or 31%, while Al Shamal recorded QR10.5m representing 8.8%.

On the other hand rental market recorded 538 transactions worth QR5.47m during the week.

Rental value fell 57.8% year on year and 68.5% week on week, while the number of rental transactions declined 65.3% year on year and 72.9% week on week.

Apartments accounted for the largest share of rental value at QR2.36m or 43.2%. Villas generated QR1.89m, representing 34.6%, followed by commercial shops at QR860,000 or 15.8%. Other property categories contributed QR350,000 equivalent to 6.4%.

Al Rayyan led rental value with QR2.5m representing 45.5% of the total, followed by Doha with QR1.2m or 21.8%, and Al Daayen with QR800,000 or 14.5%.

Overall, Qatar's week 37 real estate indicators point to a market with sharply different trends across its segments.

While sales and rental values contracted substantially from the previous week, mortgage value recorded a weekly increase. Villas dominated both sales and mortgage values, whereas apartments remained the leading property type in the rental
market.

The figures underline the continued concentration of real estate activity in major municipalities, particularly Doha, Al Rayyan and Al Daayen, while providing a snapshot of transaction trends across Qatar's property market.

The country's market is poised to benefit in the long-term, driven by several infrastructure projects and developments, expansion of the industry across the country, and investment-friendly initiatives implemented by the Qatari government in addition to an appetite for safe investment.
