Diabetes Qatar Organises 'Girls Prevention Camp'
Doha, Qatar: Diabetes Qatar organised the“Girls' Prevention Camp” at its headquarters on September 12, with the participation of 22 girls aged 12 to 14. The camp was held as part of Diabetes Qatar's efforts to raise health awareness and encourage girls to adopt healthy lifestyles from an early age.
The camp aimed to introduce participants to the principles of healthy nutrition and the importance of physical activity, while equipping them with the skills needed to make healthier choices in their daily lives.
The program included health assessments, interactive educational sessions on healthy eating and weight management, as well as a range of physical activities. Participants also took part in an educational supermarket tour, where they learned how to read nutrition labels, compare food products, and select healthier alternatives.
The program also featured a practical activity on making healthier choices when dining out, including selecting suitable menu options and appropriate portion sizes.
The camp concluded with a session that helped participants set realistic health goals they could continue working toward.
The camp forms part of a wider range of initiatives and programs delivered by Diabetes Qatar to promote prevention and raise health awareness among different segments of the community. These efforts include in-person and online awareness programs and campaigns for school students, in addition to diabetes prevention programs and awareness campaigns on diabetes during pregnancy conducted across several shopping malls.
Diabetes Qatar continues to deliver educational and preventive programs as part of its commitment to building a more health-conscious community and promoting behaviors that help reduce the risk factors associated with diabetes and other chronic diseases.
