Saudi Arabia Draws Firm Line on Sovereignty, Regional Security
(MENAFN) Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan says the kingdom will not tolerate threats against its security or attacks on its territory and infrastructure, warning that further escalation could expand the ongoing regional confrontation.
Speaking at the BRICS summit in New Delhi on Sunday, bin Farhan expressed Saudi Arabia’s appreciation for being invited to take part in the gathering.
“The integrity of the Kingdom’s territory and its sovereignty are not open to compromise, and we will not accept the targeting of our territory or facilities under any pretext or designation,” he stressed.
He also cautioned that “continued escalation in the region is widening the scope of the confrontation.”
Bin Farhan described security and stability in the Gulf as an issue of international importance, noting that developments in the region have a direct connection to the health and stability of the global economy.
He said the immediate focus should be on reducing tensions and creating conditions that allow political and diplomatic initiatives to move forward.
The Saudi foreign minister further argued that lasting Gulf security depends on respecting the sovereignty and independence of regional states, avoiding interference in domestic affairs, maintaining constructive relations between neighbors and resolving disputes through peaceful means.
